New White House Website Slams Bush

Under the “Agenda” section of the site regarding Katrina, it reads:

President Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. He and Vice President Biden will take steps to ensure that the federal government will never again allow such catastrophic failures in emergency planning and response to occur.

President Obama swiftly responded to Hurricane Katrina. Citing the Bush Administration’s “unconscionable ineptitude” in responding to Hurricane Katrina, then-Senator Obama introduced legislation requiring disaster planners to take into account the specific needs of low-income hurricane victims. Obama visited thousands of Hurricane survivors in the Houston Convention Center and later took three more trips to the region. He worked with members of the Congressional Black Caucus to introduce legislation to address the immediate income, employment, business, and housing needs of Gulf Coast communities.

Appointees Who Helped Make Bush The Worst President Ever

Think Progress has put together a list of 43 Bush appointees that worked so very hard to make him the worse president in the history of our nation. “Brownie” made a very impressive showing in the fifth spot:

5. Michael Brown — This former commissioner of the International Arabian Horse Association was appointed by Bush to head FEMA in 2003. After Katrina made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane, Brownie promptly did a “heck of a jobbungling the government’s relief efforts, and was sent back to Washington a few days later. He was forced to resign shortly thereafter.

And think, he was only in the public eye for a few weeks. Imagine his ranking if he’d been around for a few years.

Epic Fail: Bush Leaves Office At 22% Approval

From CBS:

Mr. Bush’s final approval rating is the lowest final rating for an outgoing president since Gallup began asking about presidential approval more than 70 years ago.

From New York Times:

President Bush prepares to leave office with no evidence that public opinion toward him is softening during his final days in power, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

[....]

Still, not only do Americans disapprove of the overall job Mr. Bush has done, but record numbers also have an unfavorable opinion of him personally. Six in 10 of those surveyed said they viewed him negatively, while about one-quarter viewed him favorably.

Americans’ historically negative assessment of the administration is not limited to the president. Vice President Dick Cheney’s favorability rating in the new poll is 13 percent, the lowest of his time in office.

I guess when you start a couple wars, lets folks lose their homes and billions (if not trillions) in the stock market, and let a fucking American city drown folks don’t like you much.

Bush’s Farewell To The Nation

And guess what, not a single mention of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans, or the Gulf coast. Why am I so totally not surprised. Good riddens!
